If you are a reader of Lisa Eldridge’s blog, you may already know that No7 has re-launched their whole cosmetics range, which has been released today!! The biggest addition to the range is the new collection of foundation and the ‘Match Made Foundation’ service, which I will write about today (and I will write about the rest of the cosmetics range later in the week!).
One of the biggest parts to the new service is the foundation matcher device (seen above, right hand side). This little piece of equipment is quite frankly amazing! Currently exclusive only to No7/Boots, the advisor or consultant doing your foundation match will hold the machine against your skin (without your makeup on) and it will take a reading from both sides of your face to calculate the closest shade for you in just a few short moments. Interfering factors such as store lighting are eliminated as the machine is based on an objective, scientific measurement. It works in much the same way as a Dulux colour match!
The device takes a handful of photos of your skin and calculates which foundation shade will match your skin tone and colour! It is quite fascinating, I’ve been lucky enough to have had some training on the device for work and it absolutely amazes me how spot on it is at matching up. The device calculates my perfect shade to be ‘Calico’ (the palest shade of course) every single time!!
There are a total of 17 (new!) shades, across a number of different formulations. Not all formulations have all 17 shades in them, however the ‘Stay Perfect’ foundation (which I am writing about) does :)
Also, if you find your shade in one formulation, it will be identical in another formulation, so you don’t have to get a new match for every different foundation texture. The packaging is all new too, much more eye catching and up to date!
So, as I mentioned before, the device measured me to be ‘Calico’ :) I have this is the Stay Perfect formula.
As you can see, the shade is spot on for me! It evens out my skin tone such as the redness and unevenness on my cheeks, and smoothes out my skin in general – because the shade is so close a match, it looks like my skin but better! As if I’m not wearing any foundation at all, but that I have lovely smooth skin ;)
The formula is nice and smooth, and just the right consistency. The coverage is just right for everyday for my skin, but maybe not quite enough on its own for those days when I’m a bit more blemish-y. It does last well on your skin, all of my work day with powder on which is good, I usually feel the need to touch up powder around lunch time but I don’t with this.
Overall, I am very very excited by the new No7 foundations and Match Made Service! I think you should all get yourselves down to a Boots store as soon as you can to try it all out! :)
Let me know what you all think :D
DISCLOSURE: The foundation was given to me free of charge on a training course I went on for work.
