A little while back, I was browsing the makeup section in TK Maxx (I love it in there, you can pick up some great beauty bargains!) when I came across this – I had been wanting to try out the primer on it’s own for quite a while, but I couldn’t pass up this full sized primer and eye shadow palette combined for less than the usual RRP of the primer itself! I think I picked it up for around £12?
The set comes with a full sized Shadow Insurance eye shadow primer and a palette with 6 of Too Faced’s most popular eye shadow shades.
The primer is said to ‘lock down glamour for hours of party-proof colour’; it prevents creasing and fading of eye shadow. I love this eye primer, it’s my favourite one at the moment – eye shadow looks vibrant and doesn’t fade, lasts for hours on end and yet it is still really easy to blend eye shadow over it. It doesn’t affect eye shadow blendability in any way which is one of my favourite things about this primer – some tend to make eye shadow stick and therefore you can’t blend it as you wish!
The eye shadows in the palette are fantastic – I genuinely wasn’t expecting too much from them, I wanted this set more for the primer than the eye shadows. However, I have taken quite a liking to them! They are amazingly pigmented and vibrant colours that wear just as you see them in the palette. The shades remind me of jewels, they are pearly and really pretty. They last really well too, especially with the Too Faced primer of course! The shades are actually really wearable, you can mix and match them and create new looks, but they look just as stunning on their own as they are so eye catching.

I haven't tried the primer yet, but I really want to. I have a sample size that I guess I'm waiting for a special occasion, or something? Currently, I just use my face primer on my lids. I want to purchase the full size, but I can't make up my mind between this one and Urban Decays. Which one is your favorite?

DeleteI love both this and the Urban Decay one however I think it depends what you want it for - they both have excellent staying power, but eye shadow lasts just that bit longer with the Urban Decay primer, BUT it's easier to blend your eye shadow when using the Too Faced one.
What a great bargain. I have been noticing some great brands in my TK Maxx. The palette is really pretty. ESP Socialite and boy toy.

ReplyDeleteI have a TK Maxx by my work place so I pop in most days for a look, so I often see the new things coming in, otherwise I would probably never find anything either!
DeleteI have the primer and it's amazing :) Would deffo repurchase if I ever run out but seeing as a little goes a such long way that will take some time. Got to love TK Maxx for its brilliant bargains. Never tried their eye shadows but their bronzers are lovely as well! x
